Paul Colligan Makes Podcasting Predictions for 2007

Paul Colligan chimes in on his blog with five predictions for the coming year, including the introduction of wireless iPods and Zunes. "Will 2007 be Podcasting’s year? Don't know yet.", says Colligan. "I do know that I’m betting my farm on the future of this channel and media. I also haven’t been more excited about a calendar year than this one." Produce Live Podcasts with Blog Talk Radio

Jon Watson introduces his readers to Blog Talk Radio, a new service that allows bloggers to host their own show as a streaming audio. Performing postcasts live as streaming audio allows hosts to take live callers and respond to instant messages during the show. The service also records the shows, and makes them available for download in MP3 and Podcast formats. Watson also covers the downsides of live podcasting in a very balanced post. Public Domain Audio Books

John Watson introduces his readers to LibriVox, an online catalog of public domain material that has been converted into audio. Nielson Survey Causes Uproar in Podcaster Community

Yesterday Nielson Ratings published a press release with statistics about the growth of podcasting. In the release Neilson confuses those who listen to podcasts with the bloggers who produce them. Compounding their mistake, the survey's statistics also counted some music downloads as podcasts. Frank Barnako has a good commentary on the buzz the release has caused in the podcaster blogosphere.
