Pay-Per-Lead Power Ads Launches TodaySubmitted by Jim on November 24, 2006 - 2:29pm.
Mike Mograbi and Matt "The I.M. Guru Developer" have launched a contextual advertising network based around a pay-per-lead model. Unlike Google's AdSense that pays primarily on a per click basis, the pay-per-lead model is where site publishers earn money every time someone signs up for more information with a merchant. The commissions of pay-per-lead can be significantly higher than that of pay-per-click, and results in much higher conversion rates for the affiliate than solely being paid on a per sale basis.

This is the question ReveNews' Adam Viener finds himself asking. Viener cites a RankingMeasures.com survey where the company correlated a site's search engine ranking with whether or not it displayed contextual advertising. Viener points out the study found that "for over 75% of searches, sites with contextual advertising from the search engine network are more likely to rank lower in the natural results."
